TEXAS COMBO TWO TONS OF STEEL
TO PLAY AMERICANA MUSIC CONFERENCE
IN NASHVILLE SEPTEMBER 10

(Austin, Texas) -- Texas band Two Tons of Steel will show off its singular "countrybilly" sound, with cuts from its new album, VEGAS, for its showcase during the annual Americana Music Conference in Nashville on Saturday night, September 10.

The band's showcase is set for 9:30 p.m. at The Cannery Ballroom, 1 Cannery Row in Nashville. For information and tickets, 615.251.3020; www.americanamusic.org.

Also part of that offical conference showcase are The Duhks, Robbie Fulks and Frank Black, formerly of The Pixies.

Since the release of VEGAS on (Palo Duro Records) this summer, its first single and the album's title track has soared to #11 on the Americana Chart (Aug. 15) and moved up to #7 on the band’s home-state The Texas Music Chart.

Robert Oermann calls the band, which has crafted a new sound from classic roots, "a twang fest. This combo is as tight as a tick. A little honky-tonk, a little rockabilly, a little Bakersfield and a whole lotta listening pleasure. I'm digging Two Tons of Steel in a supersized way."

Along with frontman and lead singer Kevin Geil, Dennis Fallon (electric guitar, harmonica), Ric Ramirez (upright bass, harmony vocals), Chris Dodds (drums, harmony vocals) and Texas Steel Guitar Hall of Famer Denny Mathis (also dobro) rock audiences with songs like their signature tune, "Havana Moon," and their high-energy covers of The Ramones' "I Wanna Be Sedated" and Johnny Rivers' "Secret Agent Man."

VEGAS captures the band's rockabilly style, evoking the 1950s combo sound with masterful execution of the rock 'n' roll beat, on-the-mark vocals, and country steel guitar and upright bass.

Palo Duro Records recorded Two Tons of Steel June 28 in celebration of the band's 10th annual summer of the "Two Tons Tuesdays" music series at Gruene Hall (the oldest dance hall in Texas). The live CD and DVD will be released January 2006.
