THE BELLEVILLE OUTFIT
TO PLAY CHARLOTTE'S EVENING MUSE

Six-Piece Gypsy-Swing-Jazz-Roots Band
Bringing Along Cuts from Debut CD

AUSTIN, Texas -- The Belleville Outfit, the Austin six-piece band whose seamless acoustic sound mixes gypsy, swing, big band, jazz and cross-genre Americana roots music, will play a CD release show in Charlotte, N.C., just after the debut of its first CD, WANDERIN'.

The Belleville Outfit -- which was just picked as Best New Local Act by Austin Chronicle Critics pollster Jim Caligiuri -- will play at 8 p.m. Saturday, February 16, at Evening Muse, 3227 N. Davidson St. Tickets are $8; club information: 704.376.3737.

WANDERIN' -- recorded in Nashville, engineered by Bil VornDick, and co-produced by John Rees, VornDick and The Belleville Outfit -- exemplifies the raw, astounding talent that has baffled, delightfully, audiences and music writers who think band members must be older than their 20-something ages.

The collection of original songs, from the roots-y title track to the love song-of-a-sort "Somebody Like You" to the plucky '50s-style "Wonder Why," sounds worldly beyond the band's time together -- only since their coming together for Merlefest 2007.

Songs like the sprightly, piano-punctuated "Don't Take It for Granted" spotlight band members' incredibly harmonic playing and tight delivery and a spirit of good, old-fashioned music.

The band -- Rob Teter on guitar and lead vocals, Phoebe Hunt on violin and lead vocals, Jonathan Konya on drums, Connor Forsyth on piano, Jeff Brown on upright bass, and Marshall Hood on lead guitar and harmony vocals -- has been racking up sold-out shows throughout Texas and up and down the East Coast.

Each member of The Belleville Outfit has solid musical experience, with three of them (Rob, Jeff and Marshall) growing up together in Spartanburg, S.C., and forming The DesChamps Band. Phoebe is classically trained on the violin and won a 2006 Daniel Pearl Foundation memorial violin to play for a year; she is now exploring all the possibilities of fiddle playing. Connor and Jonathan were studying music and business at Loyola along with Rob when the joint decision was made to move to Austin.

Touring behind the new release begins immediately, including a stop in Memphis for a showcase during The Folk Alliance.
