THE BELLEVILLE OUTFIT
JOINS LYLE LOVETT & BAND FOR BALTIMORE SHOW
AS IT TOURS BEHIND ALBUM WANDERIN’
Americana Band Playing Music Festivals & More
AUSTIN, Texas — The Belleville Outfit, whose debut album, WANDERIN,’ is drawing critical acclaim and whose live shows do the same, will be in Baltimore early next month to perform with superstar Lyle Lovett as the Americana sextet tours with its acoustic swing-gypsy-country-jazz-roots music, a sound that a local critic says “effervesces more than a shaken Coke can.”
The Belleville Outfit plays at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 3, at Pier Six Pavilion, 731 Eastern Ave. in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Gates open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25-$50; information: 410.783.4189. Lyle Lovett and His Large Band headline the show.
Since its independent release in February, WANDERIN’ has earned plenty of powerful compliments, having already climbed to #10 on the Americana radio chart (currently at #17) for its rare trifecta of songwriting, instrumentation and vocals on cleverly arranged original songs and delightful covers.
In The Outfit’s future: showcasing at the 9th Annual Americana Music Festival & Conference in Nashville in September. But before that, hosting and playing at the 4th Annual Music Camp in Spartanburg, S.C., on June 21 along with The Greencards, DAM Combo, Gene Wyatt Trio and The Shane Pruitt Band (tickets: $15 + merchant fee, www.running-time.com/musiccamp).
Those are just two of the music festivals the band will attend through the fall to satisfy fans hungry for its extraordinary Americana blend. Others include The Four Corners Festival in Pagosa Springs, Colo., in August; the Austin City Limits Music Festival and Albino Skunk Bluegrass Festival in Greer, S.C., in September; and Joshua Tree Roots Music Festival in California in October.
The Monterey County Herald calls the group’s music “toe-tapping,” and says of WANDERIN’, “… The violin player Phoebe Hunt is phenomenal … with some great Grapelli-Reinhardt-style guitar-violin interplay on the original ‘Caroline.’ And the group’s twin guitars, Rob Teter and Marshall Hood, seem to be able to play any style of music with ease and panache. …”
Continues Americana Airplay: “… But where there might be the temptation to dazzle the listener with their playing skills, they let [those] talents take somewhat of a back seat to the songwriting and vocals …” Other members are Jonathan Konya on drums, Connor Forsyth on piano and Jeff Brown on upright bass.
