THE BELLEVILLE OUTFIT
PLAYS 1ST SHOWCASE
OF AMERICANA CONFERENCE 2008
Band Playing Music Festivals & More as It Tours Behind Album, WANDERIN’
AUSTIN, Texas — The Belleville Outfit, whose debut album, WANDERIN,’ is drawing critical acclaim and whose live shows do the same, will be in Nashville next month for the 9th Americana Music Association Festival and Conference to play a showcase of its acoustic roots music, whose ingredients The Boston Globe details as “hot-saucy Texas honky-tonk, city-slicker indie pop, jam-grass mischief, cool jazz and big-band swing.”
The Belleville Outfit plays the first showcase of this year’s AMA — performing at 9 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, at The Basement, 1604 8th Ave. S. Showcase wristbands are $35 at www.americanamusic.org; club information: 615.254.8006. Also scheduled for the showcase: the everybodyfields, The Dedringers and Patrick Sweany.
Since its independent debut release in February, WANDERIN’ has earned plenty of powerful compliments, including that from The Globe, and reached #10 on the Americana radio chart for its songwriting, instrumentation and vocals on tightly arranged original songs and clever covers.
The Monterey County Herald calls the group’s music “toe-tapping,” and says of WANDERIN’, “… The violin player Phoebe Hunt is phenomenal … with some great Grapelli-Reinhardt-style guitar-violin interplay on the original ‘Caroline.’ And the group’s twin guitars, Rob Teter and Marshall Hood, seem to be able to play any style of music with ease and panache. …” Other members are Jonathan Konya on drums, Connor Forsyth on piano and Jeff Brown on upright bass.
After spending this summer on the road across the country, including opening for Lyle Lovett, The Belleville Outfit will perform through the fall at music festivals including The Four Corners Festival in Pagosa Springs, Colo., at the end of this month; Austin City Limits Music Festival and Albino Skunk Bluegrass Festival in Greer, S.C., in September; and Joshua Tree Roots Music Festival in California in October.
