THE DERAILERS PLAY CD RELEASE SHOW IN SEATTLE
FOR LATEST RELEASE, SOLDIERS OF LOVE
Band's Sixth Album a Mix of Old & New, Country-Pop to Rockabilly
Austin, TX -- The summer tour by country-rock dance-hall favorites The
Derailers behind the release of its sixth album and its Palo Duro
Records debut, SOLDIERS OF LOVE (June 6), continues with a stop in
Seattle to play a CD release show at the Tractor Tavern.
The band plays at 10 p.m. Sunday, August 20, at Tractor Tavern, 5213
Ballard Ave. in Seattle. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 day of show;
information: 206.789.4250.
In the short time since its release, SOLDIERS OF LOVE has jumped to #9
on the Americana Music Association radio chart. Its first single, the
Texas-anthem-in-the-making "Cold Beer, Hot Women and Cool Country
Music," written by Rockabilly Hall of Famer (and producer/writer on the
album) Buzz Cason and Derailers front man and guitarist Brian Hofeldt,
is climbing The Texas Music Chart.
The Derailers have marked the release all over Texas and beyond -- with
live shows and in-store performances by the hugely popular
country-rock-pop combo, on TV news and entertainment shows, on
satellite radio, the Web, and across cyberspace via terrestrial radio.
Fans know The Derailers' magic and fill dance floors wherever and in
whatever medium the band plays.
Every one of the new CD's 14 songs is choice: a smooth-as-silk version
of Cason's early '60s hit "Soldier of Love," which was covered by
Arthur Anderson as well as The Beatles; "An American Man," Hofeldt's
tribute to Johnny Cash; rockers ("Hey Valerie," "Get 'Er Done"),
ballads ("The One Before Me," "Every Time it Rains"); and an
instrumental ("Poppycock," with its Buckaroos-Ventures-Herb Albert
mix).
Ann Marie Harrington of Take Country Back (May 2006) praises The
Derailers for the "exciting energy on the album. They've chosen strong
songs to work with, and the vocals and playing are full of fire and
passion. While they're moving in a direction that many longtime fans
may not be familiar with, SOLDIERS OF LOVE is their strongest overall
release to date, one where The Derailers continue to successfully
reinvent themselves while still remaining true to themselves."
On SOLDIERS OF LOVE, Hofeldt gets solid backup from bassist-vocalist Ed
Adkins, drummer-percussionist Scott Matthews, pedal steel player and
vocalist Chris Schlotzhauer, and piano pounder and organist Sweet Basil
McJagger. Cason, the legendary producer-songwriter-music publisher,
added background vocals, acoustic guitar, piano and some percussion on
the disk.
