Globe-Hopping Singer-Songwriter’s ‘World is Turning’
Released in Video, Makes Her a Finalist in Competition
AUSTIN, Texas — Singer-songwriter Jackie Bristow returns to the United States and Memphis for showcases at this year’s International Folk Alliance Conference, just months after the release of her stunning record, CRAZY LOVE, in her home country of New Zealand and a successful tour there.
Bristow plays her Official Folk Alliance Showcase at 8 p.m. Saturday, February 23, in the “Chattanooga Room” of the conference’s Performance Alley. Information: www.folkalliance.org.
The down-to-earth-angel with the smooth-as-silk voice will make three other appearances during the conference: at midnight Thursday, February 21, in the R.O.O.T, The Music Foundation Showcase, in Room 1712 in the Memphis Marriott Hotel, 250 N. Main St. in Memphis; at 1 a.m. Friday, February 22, in the Rockshop Music Publishing Showcase, also in Marriott Room 1712; and at 11:20 p.m. Saturday, February 23, in the Desert Highway Records Showcase, also in Marriott Room 1712.
From Memphis, Bristow travels to Nashville for more performances and then on to her American home base of Los Angeles and her adopted hometown of Austin, where she will appear during South By Southwest Music Festival 2008 in March.
Since the release of CRAZY LOVE in Australia and New Zealand through Sydney-based independent label Craving Records in October, Bristow has been touring wineries and intimate venues in New Zealand. The album’s “The World is Turning” has made her a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition (judges include Tom Waits, Loretta Lynn, Macy Gray and music industry delegates). Says Chet Flippo of Nashville Skyline: “Bristow is a true original and well worth your attention. ... Not many writers in any musical genres give the attention and depth to lyrics that Bristow obviously does.”
The “World is Turning” video is now in the Top 40 and climbing on CMC (Country Music Channel) and in U.S. Starbucks outlets participating in the new iTunes watch-listen-download program. Cut and paste this link to the video:

“CRAZY LOVE is much more than a book of poems,” writes the John Shelton Ivany Top 20. “The lyrics are enveloped in superb musicianship, good hooks that flow naturally rather than being contrived, and awesome melodies laid over good grooves and beats.”
Interview times are available as well as press kits.
