nelo TO PLAY SHOW AT ANTONE’S
WITH NEW TUNES
Austin, TX — nelo, whose “melodic vibe” has enthralled audiences across Texas, the South and beyond returns to Antone’s next month to play a show of favorites from its spring debut album as well as just-written tunes fresh from principal songwriter Matt Ragland and hours of recording at Pedernales Studios.
nelo (nell-o, spelled all lowercase) plays at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, November 8, at Antone’s, 213 W. Fifth St. Tickets are $10; information: 512.320.8424, www.antones.net.
Austin American-Statesman music writer Michael Corcoran during the Americana Music Festival in Nashville wrote about nelo: “That one daytime party was co-hosted by Justice Records, whose band nelo played last. Seated near the front at the Second Fiddle club were Bob Roux of Live Nation and producer Steve Fischell, who seemed to be getting into the band’s melodic vibe. Two new songs, ‘The Note’ and ‘Breakthrough,’ especially played to singer Reid Umstattd’s fluid phrasing. … nelo was a fresh breath after all the bad country and rock heard up and down Broadway. Lotsa potential there.”
The six-piece band — Matt Ragland (acoustic guitar, backing vocals), Chris Hill (drums, percussion), Stephen Goodson (electric guitar), David Long (tenor and soprano sax, flute) Mike St. Clair (bass, trombone) and Reid Umstattd (lead vocals) — spent the summer touring, including dates opening for Sister Hazel, and is showcasing at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City at Crash Mansion on October 22.
Interview times are available as well as press kits.
